Legal Experience

Upon graduation from NCCU’s Law School, James decided to merge his love of football with the law and pursue a career as an Agent/Attorney. He quickly realized that he was a minnow swimming with sharks. He decided to return to North Carolina where he joined the law firm of Michaux and Michaux, PA of Durham, North Carolina where he served as an associate for two years. James then decided to open his own firm as a solo practitioner. His office was based in Durham, North Carolina until he, Rob Lane and Anthony Brannon decided to join forces in 2005. James then became a partner in the firm of Hairston Lane Brannon (HLB).

 

James has practiced in the State of North Carolina for well over 20 years. His primary practice areas are: civil litigation, employment law and business litigation. He is licensed to practice before all of the federal courts in NC as well as the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals, where he has argued before the Court.

Legal Experience

Upon graduation from law school in 1989, Rob Lane joined the firm of Hollowell, Eldridge and Ingersoll in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he worked as an associate in the areas of Willis, Trusts and Estates and Physician Practice Management.

After three years, Rob transitioned to Coastal Healthcare Group in Durham, North Carolina, where he served as associate general counsel for the company. At Coastal, he worked primarily on contract negotiations and corporate transactions.

At the beginning of 1995, Rob opened his own solo practice law firm. Initially he primarily handled traffic offenses, misdemeanor criminal defense and civil personal injury matters. In 2005, after several years of collaboration on cases, Rob joined forces with James Hairston and Anthony Brannon and became a partner in the firm of Hairston Lane Brannon.

For the past ten years, Rob has worked in litigation both in the criminal defense and civil areas. This has included winning jury trails in both state criminal Superior Court in counties throughout North Carolina, as well as state and Federal civil Court in North Carolina.

Rob is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Middle Districts of North Carolina and the North Carolina Supreme Court.
